Social Action in collaboration with Stakeholder Democracy Network (SDN) organised a press briefing at Abonema wharf community on Wednesday to once again draw attention to the plights of the over 200,000 people that would be displaced and rendered homeless.

This Report is given based on follow-up activity by the National Union of Tenants of Nigeria, which includes visits to the area and interviews with the affected persons. Enquanto o Governador do Estado de River (RSG) parece ter se envolvido em uma batalha final para destruira orla de Njemanze e Abonnema Wharf apesar do Supremo Tribunal Federal da Nigéria ter expedido uma Ordem de restringí-lo de realizar qualquer demolição na orla, UN-Habitat expandiu o Relatório sobre a missão à Port Harcourt (12-16 março de 2009).

Nenhum comentário formal foi recebido do Governo do Estado de River, mas nossas fontes confirmam que eles receberam o Relatório e que estavam cientes da avaliação da UN-HABITAT sobre os despejos em Port Harcourt.
